We are taking appointments now for our popular Ayurveda clinic (Jan 2023)

After a long pause, we are super excited to announce the reopening of the AIHM Ayurveda clinic in Medina in January 2023 (in just a few weeks!) and we would love to see you in the clinic.

The clinic will be managed and supervised by a qualified Ayurveda Physician trained and practiced in the original land of Ayurveda (India) with long clinical and academic experience.

We are now offering Ayurveda steam treatment in a steam chamber and individually catered Detox programs (the world-renowned Panchakarma ) to rejuvenate your body and mind on a non-residential basis.

We have equipped the clinic with some new Ayurveda equipment/s imported from India to provide our clients with the best Ayurveda experience.
There are three primary goals of our clinic :

1. To provide our clients with the best, authentic Ayurveda care and experience at an affordable fee in a safe and caring environment.
2. To provide the best educational experience to our students.
3. To educate and allow as many people as possible to experience the benefit of Ayurveda that has been in practice for over 5000 years..

We offer an intensive clinic from 16/01/23-27/01/23 (9 am-5 pm, including Saturdays except for any public holidays) and then our regular clinic from 1/2/23 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

To make your bookings, please call 94173553 between 9 am-5 pm on weekdays or send us an email to clinic@aihm.wa.edu.au so that someone can get back to you to arrange your appointment.

As our clinical services are top-rated and we only have a limited number of places, the available slots are taken up quickly.

For all clients who have not attended the clinic for the last three months, we recommend that they make a follow-up consultation prior to any treatment session (Up to 30 minutes) as this will help our graduating practitioners design the specific therapy required for you based on your current health status.

Clients who are coming to our Medina clinic for the first time are required to make an initial consultation prior to any treatment session.

We look forward to seeing you in our clinic in the new year.

Meanwhile, we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy new year filled with joy, love, prosperity, health,  and wellness.

Are you prepared for an Anaphylaxis Emergency?

Are you prepared for an Anaphylaxiz Emergency

Would you recognise the symptoms of someone having anaphylaxis reaction and would you know confidently how to administer care to someone suffering from this anaphylaxis emergency?

Your quick thinking, actions and treatment could just save someone’s life!

Everyone should be prepared and educated in case of an emergency and understand the life-threatening effects it can have on an individual.

The HLTAID003 Provide First Aid will give you the skills to manage the situation.

What is anaphylaxis?

Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction and potentially life-threatening. It should always be treated as a medical emergency, requiring immediate treatment. Most cases of anaphylaxis occur after a person with a severe allergy is exposed to the allergen they are allergic to usually a food, insect or medication.

Usually occurring within 10 minutes to two hours from exposure to an allergen, anaphylaxis requires urgent medical attention. Often affecting more than one body system, it can cause many life-threatening symptoms without preventative measures in place.

The symptoms can range from swelling of lips, face, eyes, hives or welts to more severe of difficult/noisy breathing, swelling of tongue and tightness in the throat.

Anaphylaxis can be triggered by a range of allergens which vary from person to person. From food (milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish, shellfish, wheat and soy), venom from bites and stings (bee, wasp and ants) to medications.

Immediate actions for anaphylaxis

  1. Remove allergen (if still present).
  2. Call for assistance.
  3. Lay the patient flat. Do not allow them to stand or walk. If breathing is difficult, allow them to sit.
  4. Adrenaline (epinephrine) is the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis. If available, give them an intramuscular injection (IMI) adrenaline into outer mid-thigh without delay using an adrenaline auto injector if available OR adrenaline ampoule/syringe
  5. Give oxygen (if available)
  6. Call an ambulance to transport the patient to the hospital.
  7. If required at any time, commence CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

Learn how to be more prepared and properly treat an anaphylaxis emergency by taking an HLTAID003 Provide First Aid.

Why does COVID-19 take so many lives

As we all know, COVID-19 is caused by a Virus. The question to ask is whether it is the Virus that cause the complications and deaths in human or the body response to the Virus that cause the complications and deaths in human?
There is growing scientific evidence to suggest that it is the later.
According to the current evidence, the spread of the Virus in the body triggers a widespread inflammatory and defence response. The response is so intense that it destroys our own body tissues, particularly lung tissues causing Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in which lungs get filled with inflammatory fluids and respiratory failure ensues. It appears that the viral toxins themselves play a much lesser role in the tissue damage compared to our own body response to the Virus producing extreme critical disease state and ultimately the death.

Although the Virus can infect anyone in our community, it is evident that certain age group of people, those who are having chronic illnesses or having immune-compromised status, chronic inflammatory conditions are more prone to complications of this Virus.

It can be hypothesised that people who are under constant stress (both physical and mental), leading a very unhealthy fast life-consuming regular junk food, sleep deprivation can all lead to acute inflammatory repose triggering the release of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines as a kind of overreaction of the immune system when COVID -19 infects those individuals.

Does Ayurveda offer any solution?

Ayurveda takes a holistic approach to the health of an individual. The body and the mind concept is an essential part of Ayurveda. It focuses on lifestyle changes where required. Healthy eating, stress management with yoga and meditation, detoxification are key elements of Ayurveda. Ayurveda believes healing within rather than without. It assists the body to heal itself triggering all the natural mechanisms to work optimally. Ayurveda may not have all the answers to modern health challenges that we face today, but certainly, it will complement the modern medicine to reduce motility and mortality rate in our society and guide people to live a healthy, happier and longer life!

Are you still thinking of becoming an Ayurveda practitioner with a nationally recognised qualification?

If you are, you can still send your application form with the relevant evidence ASAP to enable us to process your application. The time table and the unit enrollments have already been released. Nearly 40% of students enrolled for 2020 April Intake have already got the access to the unit contents by now!.
